December 11, 2009, Newsletter Issue #6: Understanding Numbering

Tip of the Week

Understanding the numbering system of crossword puzzles is key to solving diagramless crosswords. Each
square with a letter that begins a word across and/or down has a number. Every word will have a black
square before it and after it (unless it reaches an edge). Be sure to put the number of each clue
in the square with the first letter of the answer and fill in black squares before and after each
word.
